Geography and History
Geography aims to find out more about and analyse the natural environment where human activities take place, as well as transformations caused by these activities and their consequences.
History is the social science that is concerned with studying the past of humanity. Through history, we can learn more about the lives of people from the past.
Historical sources provide historians with information that allows them to learn more about the main events of the past and the societies in which they took place: their political and social organisation; their economic activities; and their ways of thinking and expressing themselves through art.
UNIT 1. PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT OF SPAIN: RELIEF AND HYDROGRAPHY
The planet we inhabit, Earth, is composed of a large variety of natural spaces, which help determine the spatial distribution of the population, the forms of human settlements, and the nature of the economic activities which develop.
The diversity of forms that can be found in the topography and hydrography of the Earth’s surface, along with the different atmospheric processes, bring about many different natural landscapes or ecosystems, where vegetation and animal species coexist in a very fragile balance.
